Major Languages to Travel Through Southeast Asia
In a previous post, we talked about the major languages ??used on a world tour. But what happens if we annotate our trip to a region like South Asia?. Without doubt, the picture changes dramatically. And while there is no reason to imagine that the ignorance of many languages ??is a cause for rejecting a trip, at least learn essential phrases and words, whether it will be important to meet the challenge with a minimum of preparation.

Southeast Asia is a huge region with many countries and cultural traits that vary significantly. To investigate the complexity of the language, I recommend reading the entry on Wikipedia Languages ??of Asia.
Could be summarized that there are many languages ??spoken by millions of people throughout this vast continent. Therefore, there is no one to save us from language barriers to communication in general. Somehow it could be argued that English save more than one situation. Most of those who routinely deal with tourists, speak minimal English. For the rest of us, we will as a last option, the universal sign language, but to our surprise, even gestural language is the same.
In Southeast Asia, the best thing is to learn a minimum of phrases in the local language, despite how difficult it may be. It will be a nice way to fall, showing interest in their culture, and welcome to awaken the kindness and willingness they usually have in the region to help those in need.
To give a particular example, the Philippines is a country where more than 170 spoken languages, official languages ??being Filipino (Tagalog) and English. In short, it will happen as in many Southeast Asian countries: in urban and tourist areas, we find people who communicate in English for example. In rural or remote communication will obviously be difficult but not impossible.
In Thailand, English is a language that speaks many people, but find that those who do, speak in a more leisurely and with a vocabulary básico.Por other hand, no one in Thailand hopes that a Western tourist speak Thai. However it will be important to know some essential words.
Have you traveled to Thailand, Philippines, or any Southeast Asian country? Do you have any experience to tell us about the language?
